I am so over MAB. He was a major source of our defensive issues.
This is what I would like to see next season:
Carle Hedman
Brewer Salo
Lee Barberio
Aulie
Guy Boucher usually goes with 7 defensemen so I added another in. Following Salo's retirement, Gudas will take his place.

Great minds think alike

I voted the same way you did. Alternate Aulie and Barberio depending on the opponent. MAB's time here is done...

I wish Salo luck in Tampa. Regardless of health, He's by far one of my favorite Canucks of all time. And holy shyt, What a shot!

I actually liked Brian Lee in Ottawa. His downfall was his draft position. He should have been selected in the 3-4 round instead of #8. also the problem is the next two guys that went after him, Staal and Kopitar!!!! I remember watching the draft and was floored when Lee was selcted. Oh well. Hope he sticks with Tampa and contributes positively, everything I have heard about him is that he is a great guy so I wish him well.

I dont understand the overrating of MAB throughout his career. The guy can play on the pp and that's about it...you don't win with defenseman that can't play in their own end.

if MAB is that bad just play him on the powerplay and throw him out for the odd forward shift on the 4th line

we did it with white, other players have done it as well

use his strengths and dont let his weaknesses kill you

Just curious...what did you like about Lee (9th overall) in Ottawa?
Admittedly he showed flashes but overall I found him to be way too timid.

It's interesting. I watched him a fair amount in Ottawa and when we traded Gilroy for him, I thought the Sens had won the trade by a large margin. Lee changed that opinion really quickly. He was solid, physical, offensively aware and defensively sound. Honestly, he looked like a top-four guy. I was really, really impressed. Glad to have him down here.

I thought the Sens were lucky to unload him. I don't think he was ever able to develop offensively in Ottawa because his d-game was always under the microscope. Good for you guys and good for him.

Really, you thought Ottawa won that trade by a large margin? Gilroy was not very good in Tampa. In fact, I flew to to Norfolk a few weeks ago to watch an actual hockey game (AHL) and Gilroy was playing for their opponent, the Whale, and he even looked below average there. I did like what I saw of Lee last year, with his ability to move the puck up the ice and look solid defensively, but even if we got nothing in return we wouldn't have lost that trade.

At the time, yeah. I was pleasantly surprised by Lee once he got to Tampa. Trade looks really good for Tampa right now.

Why did you think the Sens won that trade? I was in the complete opposite camp. First off there was no way Gilroy was coming back (and please tell me you didn't want him back). Second he was UFA so we were gonna lose him for nothing. To me Lee was a no lose acquisition with some upside and he would get a chance for alot of minutes here simply b/c we were re-building our d corps.

Edit-Just read to the bottom of the thread...sorry didn't realize you got asked this question already. But I still don't understand how you thought Ott won that trade but neither here nor there.
